Overtime in the UAE private sector is governed by Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (Article 19) and its Executive Regulations. Overtime is any work beyond the normal working hours, which are a maximum of 8 hours a day or 48 hours a week. Overtime pay is calculated from the employee's basic wage.

Basic salary AED 5,000, 30 days, 8 hours a day: the hourly basic wage is AED 20.83.
On the basic wage. Allowances are not included unless the employment contract or company policy says otherwise.
Overtime worked between 10 PM and 4 AM is paid at the hourly basic wage plus 50% (150%). This does not apply to employees who work in shifts.
The employer must give you another rest day in place of it, or pay your basic wage for that work plus at least 50%.
Normally no more than 2 hours a day, and total working hours should not exceed 144 hours every three weeks.
